As an Account Takeover (ATO) Data Analyst, you will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting data to detect and mitigate unauthorized access and identity-based threats across the organization. You will collaborate closely with the Fraud Mitigation team to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies in login and account activity data, helping to enhance detection strategies and recommend rule changes that improve operational efficiency. Your insights will directly contribute to reducing ATO risk and ensuring a secure and trustworthy experience for our customers.
What you'll do & how you'll make your mark.
- Utilize advanced analytics tools and techniques to analyze large datasets, identifying patterns, anomalies, and trends related to account compromise and unauthorized access.
- Investigate ATO incidents by analyzing behavioral data, identifying root causes, and recommending proactive measures to prevent recurrence.
- Partner with leadership to support strategic decision-making through data-driven insights and recommendations.
- Recommend and implement rule changes and detection logic based on data findings to continuously improve ATO detection capabilities.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and metrics to monitor ATO trends and measure the effectiveness of mitigation efforts.
- Stay informed on emerging ATO tactics, tools, and techniques to strengthen detection and prevention strategies.
Who you are & what you'll need to succeed.
- Bachelor’s degree in data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in fraud analytics, cybersecurity, or data analysis, with a focus on account takeover or identity-related threats, preferably in an eCommerce, fintech, or digital services environment.
- Proficient in SQL and other data analysis tools, with experience in data visualization platforms such as Tableau.
- Preferred experience with scripting languages such as Python or R for data manipulation, automation, or fraud analytics.
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Snowflake).
- Knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, or statistical modeling techniques, especially as applied to fraud detection.
- Strong understanding of ATO patterns, credential stuffing, and identity-based attack vectors, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and identify potential risks.
- Exposure to technologies related to user authentication, identity verification, and session protection.
- Curiosity and drive to learn emerging threats, technologies, and data tools.
- Comfortable building and maintaining account takeover detection rules based on behavioral and transactional data.
- Skilled in communicating technical insights to cross-functional stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Analytical thinker with a detail-oriented approach to problem solving.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
