Your new role
As our new Climate Adaptation Planner/Resilience Designer, you will join a team dedicated to working with clients to deliver significant climate adaptation and resilience projects throughout the Northeast, Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions. You will work alongside our planners, engineers, and scientists, including collaborating with our global team of experienced professionals, on a wide range of water resiliency related projects, from preliminary studies through design and construction, to develop sustainable solutions to help urban and rural communities address the impacts of climate change and water infrastructure needs.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Working in a multi-disciplinary market to develop climate resilience plans, with a focus on coastal and interior flood resilience, in close collaboration with project teams, clients, and community stakeholders.
- Alongside the guidance of Senior Landscape Architects, Planners, and Ecologists, you will be developing schematic and conceptual designs for coastal and interior flood resilience solutions with community benefits, and detailed site design and contract documentation related to ecological restoration, public amenities, and nature-based solutions in coastal and inland environments.
- In addition to design, you will be creating and implementing community engagement plans, including stakeholder outreach, facilitation at public meetings, and creating graphics for public workshops, as well as developing public-facing reports, including writing and graphics to convey technical concepts to a public audience, preparing maps, diagrams, and other graphics, and will be given the opportunity to present findings to various audiences to strengthen your technical and communication skills, recognize your contributions to the project, and to further develop your professional network and brand with stakeholders, clients, and project teams.
Your new team
You will be part of the Water Infrastructure & Climate Adaptation team. With a diverse team across the Northeast, MidAtlantic and Midwest regions, we provide solutions related to climate and resiliency planning; hydraulic modelling, watershed management, site civil design, stormwater management; blue-green infrastructure; design of new and rehabilitation of water infrastructure; dams and waterfront development including structural, geotechnical, heavy civil and water resources engineering.

These include:
- Masters Degree in Planning, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, or Engineering and 5+ years of experience.
- Demonstrated experience with climate adaptation and resilience, urban design/landscape architecture, and schematic/conceptual design of flood mitigation measures and nature-based solutions, including coastal flooding, cloudburst planning and Blue-Green Infrastructure, nature-based solutions, open space and resilience design, and community engagement.
- Experience in all phases of project development including planning, conceptual, schematic, and detailed design are preferred; experience with illustrative and graphic communication; and experience with or understanding of climate risk assessment, climate justice concepts, and benefit-cost analysis.
- Software skills: Microsoft Office, ArcGIS Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, Rhino
- Preferred certifications: AICP, ENV-SP, CFM, WEDG, RLA.
