Atlas Shingle, Underlayment and Ventilation is seeking a Project Engineer.  The preferred candidate must be flexible and will have a minimum of 50% travel or more that must often be on site to manage large projects for extended periods of time.

 

 

Project Engineer Primary Responsibilities:

 

The Project Engineer is responsible for managing the safe and efficient installation of capital projects involving mechanical and electrical equipment in an industrial manufacturing environment. As a fully competent engineer in all conventional aspects of the subject matter of the functional area of the assignments, plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Devises new approaches to problems encountered.  Requires sufficient professional experience to assure competence as a fully trained engineer.

  • Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or the entire project of moderate scope.
  • Supervises and directs outside contractors during the construction and commissioning phases of capital projects.
  • Performs work, which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
  • Independently performs most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected. Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects.
  • Works with process, quality, production, and manufacturing personnel to develop and implement process changes that are necessitated by new technology or improvements to current technologies.
  • Must have exceptional operational knowledge of process equipment and the ability to make logical decisions concerning the operation, maintenance, and modification of process equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Must have working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s), industrial process control Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) theory, blueprints, and Computer Aided Design (CAD).
  • Must direct and influence the actions of all personnel involved without direct authority.
  • Responsible for proactively communicating priority issues and ensuring effective two-way communication between the operating plants and the corporate level to resolve
  • Responsible for aiding in the development of formal authorization requests for capital projects over $100,000.
  • Responsible for the management of the cost of large projects within the authorized budget.
  • Responsible for schedule management and completing projects on time.
  • Must make decisions based on incomplete information that may impact the operation of manufacturing in both the short and long term.

Project Engineer Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or manufacturing Engineering from an accredited institution plus (5) five years of associated experience.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Minimum of (3) three years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Organization - Must have sound organizational skills, be detail-oriente
