Are you a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or a Physician Assistant (PA) ready to advance your expertise in psychiatric care? Our Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship Program offers a unique opportunity to learn from leading experts in the field while honing your clinical skills in advanced psychiatric treatments.Our 12-month program aims to provide early career PMHNPs and PAs the opportunity to learn from and practice alongside our outstanding faculty who have spent decades training our medical students, general psychiatry residents, and child and adolescent psychiatry fellows. Our training is geared towards preparing our fellows to become clinicians who provide excellent evidence-based psychiatric care in various clinical settings — from community-based care to the academic university setting.
The program provides some of the same didactic experiences to the APP fellows as our physician trainees receive. In addition, our APP fellows benefit from additional didactic experiences that are geared to meet the different needs of APPs. Approximately 25% of a fellow’s time is spent on educational activities with the other 75% in providing care.
Clinically a fellow will spend 6 months involved with adults and 6 months involved with children and adolescents. Both experiences include 1 month in hospital-based care and 5 months in the outpatient setting.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
The fellow will experience a wide variety of clinical settings. These experiences will take place within the BJC Healthcare system. In addition, the fellow will participate in weekly continuing education sessions.
