This position can be located in any of these offices: Wilkes-Barre, PA, Wexford, PA, Lehigh Valley, PA, Wilmington, DE, Newark, OH, Dublin, OH, or Somerville, NJ.

The Bridge Leader will be backed by a seasoned bridge design team and will work with colleagues across Verdantas to pursue and deliver exciting projects to various Departments of Transportation (DOT) and local counties and municipalities across the Mid-Atlantic and Ohio Regions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a growing team of 6 to conduct analyses, develop design solutions, preparation of design drawings, calculations, and specifications for bridge engineering projects
- Perform engineering designs requiring the application of standard and advanced techniques and procedures as well as bring in past industry experience to strengthen the team to deliver excellent technical work
- Perform complex structural planning, analysis, and design for all structural aspects of transportation projects. Typical projects might include bridge rehabilitation/ replacement, box culvert, and retaining wall design for highway and railway project
- mentor junior staff, being viewed as a technical expert in engineering analysis and design
- Supervise engineers in the performance of engineering tasks
- Perform quality control reviews of the design work performed by the design team
- Responsible for the technical development of bridge projects from inception to completion
- Aid in the preparation of technical proposals
- Represent Verdantas at industry technical seminars
- Establish client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings
- Project management: Managing scope, schedule, staffing, budget, etc.
- Develop project plans, specifications, cost estimates, and final bid packages
- Attend client meetings to present project design concepts and details
- May be required to perform construction field visits and/or bridge inspections and other project site visits
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- 15-20 years of bridge engineering experience with 5 of those years in a technical leadership role
- Professional Engineering (PE) License is required; preferred states include PA, NJ, MD, DE, NY, and OH
- Familiarity with Bentley Softwares including OpenRoads
- Strong knowledge of AASHTO LRFD design specifications
- Proven ability to work in a team environment
- Prior experience with employee management including career development, and training
- Familiarity with preliminary and final design requirements for the transportation industry, related software, and its application to bridge design
- Experience in Bridge plan development and detailing
- Certified Bridge Inspector Certification is preferred
- Ability to travel 1-2 times per quarter within the Mid-Atlantic and Great Lakes Region for team, client, and project meetings
