What You Will Do:

The Construction Project Manager within Facilities & Services manages facility projects, both renovation and new construction, to support Pratt and Whitney's Capital Improvement Program, from initiation stage through planning, design, construction, and closeout.

Responsibilities:

  • The Facilities Capital Construction Project Manager manages and coordinates the activities of designated projects with a specific timeframe and funding amount to ensure that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished safely, to current standards, and within specified timeframe and funding parameters.

  • Develops conceptual plans and budgets for facilities projects to support fiscal decision-making and coordinates with proponent groups and committees to facilitate rational facility planning, budgeting, and scheduling; on design/build projects supports major project design decisions in conjunction with Business Unit Lead and Project Engineering Lead; develops planning documents for initiation of projects to gain approval from PW management.

  • Prepares requests for proposals and conducts all necessary meetings to facilitate hiring construction services; reviews plans and specifications for compliance with appropriate building codes and project requirements.

  • Oversee Project Engineering Firm to schedule project meetings, prepare and distribute meeting minutes, track action items and follow-up with project team as necessary; monitors and reports on all phases of planning and construction to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with specified objectives.

  • Coordinates all parties involved in the planning, design, and construction process by assigning tasks and providing guidance for specific functions; develops and maintains facility project budgets; conducts pre-construction meetings, reviews bids, and recommends award of purchase order; coordinates with PW Procurement Department to develop recommendations for selection of professional services; prepares purchase order change orders, if necessary, and monitors their execution.

  • Executes submittal process for all design and construction submittal documents, including engineered drawings, specifications, calculations, material and equipment data, finish samples, close-out documents, passports, and other information; perform field reviews for all construction activities ensure construction follows approved design documents; review all contractor invoices to confirm work complete as required, discuss with Facilities Lead for their final approval.

  • Monitors purchase order / proposal documents to ensure execution to site standard and distribution of payments as work is completed; lead projects walks, close out reviews and preparation and distribution of outstanding or uncompleted tasks prior to job completion.

Qualifications You Must Have: 

  • Bachelor's degree and 7 or more years of experience in an industrial construction environment or a Master's degree and 5 or more years in an industrial construction environment.

  • Knowledge of facilities planning and construction management processes and procedures to include knowledge of building codes and standards of practice and construction materials and methods.

  • Understanding of status of costs of new construction, escalation factors, and market trends.
