The Engineer III position is the advanced level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees in the Engineer III position solve complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with limited supervision. An Engineer III is expected to develop advanced skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. An Engineer III effectively applies fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is progressively complex and varied.

The Senior Engineer manages work in engineering areas of specialization, with minimal supervision. The Senior Engineer is expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently, with guidance limited to unusual or complex projects or issues. Employees in the Senior Engineer position are fully competent in the use of concepts and procedures. The Senior Engineer identifies problems, develops solutions, and takes action to resolve.

The Electrical Engineer will work at the site, within the stations technical team and provide direct support to plant operations and maintenance, primarily in the form of troubleshooting, problem solving, and technical recommendations for assigned plant systems and equipment. In addition, the successful candidate will participate in capital improvement and maintenance projects as required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for review and definition of the operation and maintenance requirements of assigned systems to ensure a high level of reliability and availability.
  • Monitors operation and performance of systems through trends and information provided through support organizations.
  • Performs station equipment inspections, identifying near and long-term reliability and efficiency concerns with follow-up engineering/technical recommendations targeting risk minimization.
  • Actively engaged in preparing both short- and long-term budget proposals, with a focus on prioritizing station risks and ensuring reliability throughout the project initiation, development, and justification phases.
  • Initiates, develops, and implements station managed projects related to assigned systems.
  • Collaborates with company subject matter experts, station operations, and maintenance personnel for equipment of responsibility.
  • Provides subject matter technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems in area of expertise.
  • Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches related to well-defined problems and analysis of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities.
  • Strives to continually improve job-related, technical, and professional knowledge, skills, and performance.
  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities across various groups. 
  • Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
  • Provides coaching and mentorship to fellow Engineers and Engineering Technologists.

Basic Requirements

Engineer III

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program. A master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B. S. engineering degree.

  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience.

Senior Engineer

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program. A master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B. S. engineering degree.
