About the role

The Cybersecurity Subject Matter Expert (SME) provides expert-level cybersecurity support for enterprise and cloud-based IT environments. This role is responsible for implementing, executing, and maintaining cybersecurity controls in accordance with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and applicable federal cybersecurity standards. The Cybersecurity SME ensures systems are secure, compliant, and capable of supporting high‑level and modern data center environments.

What you'll do

  • Execute and support the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process across information systems, including system categorization, control selection, implementation, assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring
  • Develop, review, and maintain RMF artifacts such as System Security Plans (SSPs), Security Assessment Reports (SARs), Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), and authorization packages
  • Provide cybersecurity subject matter expertise for enterprise, cloud, and hybrid IT environments
  • Support accreditation and authorization (A&A) activities in accordance with NIST and DoD cybersecurity requirements
  • Advise program and technical teams on cybersecurity architecture, security controls, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Support security assessments, audits, and inspections and remediate identified findings
  • Ensure cybersecurity best practices are applied to modern data center and cloud infrastructure environments
  • Collaborate with system administrators, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure secure system design and operations

Qualifications

  • Candidates must meet one of the following qualification paths:

Option 1 – Degree Path

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the cybersecurity field
  • Demonstrated experience executing the Risk Management Framework (RMF)

Option 2 – Certification Path

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cybersecurity and RMF execution

Required Technical Certifications

  • In addition to the above, candidates must possess one or more cloud-related certifications
