Supports the origination and structuring of trading products transactions for commodities clients, and is an integral part of a coverage team that maintains strong client relationships. Has expertise in a variety of sectors and completes due diligence and credit analysis on new and existing relationships.  Performs ongoing management of the portfolio. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Underwrites transactions which includes due diligence and financial analysis.
  • Monitors clients, industries and regulatory agencies for changes which may affect portfolio and business needs.
  • Reviews and continually monitors performance of existing accounts and client relationships.
  • Participates in deal structuring and document negotiations, in partnership with deal team.
  • Creates financial models to analyze client portfolios and anticipate client needs.
  • Applies technical concepts to support deliverables.
  • Considers risk, internal controls and compliance as part of day-to-day accountabilities and adheres to policies and procedures.
  • Understands complexity of transactions and related risks (credit, market, operational, legal/compliance, etc.).
  • Supports a diverse portfolio of companies with progression towards increased account responsibility.
  • Integrates information from multiple sources to enable more efficient processes, enhanced analysis and/or streamlined reporting.
  • Supports the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Provides direction and feedback to Analysts; accountable for development and mentoring of Analysts, where applicable.
  • Works independently on a range of complex tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates with strong credit skills or commodity industry knowledge are preferred.
  • Candidates should have 4 - 6 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of capital markets, trading products and applicable regulations is considered an asset.
  • Good knowledge of portfolio management strategies and objectives.
  • Experienced in deal/transaction execution.
  • Technical proficiency in relevant computer applications.
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration & team skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

The annual base salary range for this role is $135,000 to $165,000 USD. Base salary will be dependent on level and experience.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
