Examples of duties
We are in search of qualified applicants for a full-time (30 hours per week) Child Care Assistant role. This position will involve providing support within the County's Child Care program at the Lovettsville Community Center.The successful candidate:
• Will need to exhibit strong time management skills,
• Demonstrate proficient problem-solving capabilities.
• Learn program requirements quickly.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions accurately.
• Maintain effective communication with children, parents, and staff.
We are currently hiring for the following location(s):
Lovettsville Community Center, Lovettsville, VA
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Oversees the conduct, communication, and participation of children in program activities; ensures compliance with staff-to-student ratios and establishes protocols for supervising and interacting with children.
• Aid in the development and implementation of educational and recreational programs for children in childcare; attend to the personal care needs of the children, and oversee the organization of equipment, supplies, and meal items.
• Facilitates constructive and professional interactions with parents, site personnel, and staff, and attends to parent inquiries and requests promptly.
• Prioritizes the health and safety of children in the program; performs and documents daily person, site health, and safety checks.
• Additional critical job responsibilities may be carried out as required by the specific role and departmental assignment.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; six (6) months of program experience with children.Preferred Qualifications:
• Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate.
• Knowledge of childhood development and curriculum components.
• Ability to design developmentally appropriate activities for preschool children.
Supplemental information
Must undergo pre-employment fingerprinting and CPS background checks. Pass TB test within 30 days of hire and each year thereafter. First Aid/CPR certifications before hire or immediately upon hire. Take OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens and Daily Health Check training within 30 days of hire. MAT training within 90 days of hire. An annual submission of a sworn disclosure statement or affirmation is mandatory, which must include any criminal convictions or pending criminal charges.*Must be able to come to work during inclement weather unless the County is closed.*
