Responsibilities: 

• Build engaging user experiences that reach millions of users monthly

• Write highly scalable, low-latency code that ships to production daily through our automated pipeline

• Fight to shave milliseconds off already blazing-fast latencies

• Work with a passionate cross-functional team of product managers, designers, production engineers, developers, architects, and scientists to run one of the highest monetizing web applications on the planet

• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and product development

• Contribute to the career development of junior engineers, using methodologies like pair programming to up-level and teach

• Deploy, monitor, and operate large-scale production systems distributed across the globe

• Analyze and optimize application/platform code and/or APIs for efficiency and performance, using rubrics like p50/p90/p99 analysis and core web vitals

• Lead hands-on implementation work to keep current with technology trends inside and outside Yahoo

A Lot About You:

You have a passion for building things that scale and are excited to learn new technologies and solve challenging problems. You thrive in a fast paced environment and love to work in a dynamic team.

• BS degree in Computer Science or related discipline. Or equivalent combination of experience

• Five years of hands-on experience in delivering large-scale web applications

• Strong experience in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and at least one modern framework (React, Svelte, NextJS); full-stack experience with NodeJS applications a major plus

• Understanding of large-scale web applications (clustering, scalability, caching, performance tuning)

• Understanding of agile methodologies like Scrum, Kanban, and agile engineering practices like Test-Driven Development, Continuous integration, and other Extreme programming practices

• Experience with both client-side and server-side technologies and languages

The compensation for this position ranges from $128,250.00 - $266,875.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in ad
