Analog Modules, Inc. is recruiting an experienced and motivated Engineering Assembler.
The Engineering Assembler fabricates prototype assemblies as defined by engineering drawings and diagrams. Supports Engineers and Engineering Technicians by performing circuit modifications. Takes an active role in working with Engineers, Engineering Technicians, Production Assemblers, and Drafting Department to create and correct product documentation.
Qualifications
Principal duties/responsibilities:
- Fabricates prototype electronic assemblies, primarily small-scale surface mount (0201) and special modifications of standard products as defined by schematic diagrams.
- Fabricates prototype mechanical assemblies as defined by engineering drawings and schematics diagrams.
- Works with Product Engineers, Engineering Technicians, Production Assemblers, and Drafting to develop assembly documentation as required.
- Works with Product Engineers, Engineering Technicians, Production Assemblers and Drafting to correct assembly and product documentation as required, through creating or assisting with the creation of and processing of design change notices.
- Works with quality control inspectors to successfully promote to stock status all assemblies coming from Engineering that are deliverable hardware.
- Provides information to Product Engineers regarding time and parts cost as well as assembly issues/concerns. Assists Engineering with the development of program and product assembly budgets.
- Assists Product Engineers and Engineering Technicians with ordering parts and tools required for prototype assembly.
- Submits purchase requisitions for approval.
- Assists production assembly team as required.
- Assists the Component Engineering department with bills of material (BOM) research and correction, component research, and part substitution processing as required.
- Solders PCB assemblies using through hole or surface mount technology (SMT) soldering under microscope and box build / mechanical assembly.
- Performs electrical wiring involving cutting, stripping, soldering, or crimping of wires.
- Attempts to complete work within budgeted assembly time which may consist of PCB Assemblies (SMT, Through Hole), optical components (die, detectors), subassemblies, cables, metal chassis, and hardware. Works with conformal coatings. Mixes, applies, and cures epoxies. Follows proper handling procedures.
- Performs soldering per J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 Class 3 Standards, builds engineering prototypes and assists in development of new assembly processes. Does system level assembly from schematic drawings.
- Completes assemblies or subassemblies per documentation provided by the engineering department. Works to approved documentation such as assembly prints, Standards Operation Procedures (SOP), Manufacturing Routers, and (WI) Work Instructions.
- Documents time spent on individual jobs on route sheets and timecards.
- Provides feedback to the supervisor regarding problems, issues, and ideas for improvement.
- Capable to act as lead and provide guidance and training to Production Assemblers.
- Supports Quality and Continuous Improvement activities.
- Adheres to company procedures and policies regarding personnel and quality issues.
