The Senior Director, Finance & Operations reports to the Associate Vice President, Finance & Payor Operations in UofL’s Health Sciences Center. This position helps to oversee (i) a multi-million dollar Medicaid supplemental payment program and (ii) the HSC’s contracting and payor relations operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
A. Supplemental Payment Program:
Understand the state and federal rules and policies applicable to Kentucky’s Medicaid supplemental payment and GME program for academic medical centers.
Coordinate quarterly and annual data collection from multiple UofL systems and partners for calculation of interim payments and reconciliation.
Internally track and report receipt of monthly interim directed payments as well as expenses associated with UofL state share payments to Medicaid, including sources of revenue and deficits, if any.
Coordinate with UofL’s consultant, Sellers Dorsey, Kentucky Medicaid Officials and peers at the University of Kentucky to assist in the smooth operation of the program and in the periodic renewal of the program with CMS.
B. Payor Operations:
Provide initial review of all contracts submitted for approval on behalf of HSC Finance Department. Prepare financial modeling of anticipated revenue and expenses and any variances to budget.
Monitor contractual payments to ensure consistency with reimbursement terms and compliance with other material provisions.
Collaborate with Department Chairs and Administrators and other stakeholders to assess contract enhancement opportunities that may optimize financial performance.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree, particularly in Law, Business, Accounting, Health Administration or similar field.
Relevant experience in Review, Management or Drafting of business contracts, particularly health care service or insurance-related contracts and Federal, state or private healthcare insurance or financing, particularly Medicaid.
Data collection and analysis, accounting and/or project management.
Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
