The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.

 

Responsibilities

Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

·        Supports the design and development of mechanical, fluids, structural and electrical Ground Support Equipment (GSE) utilizing 3D CAD modeling/drafting software.

·        Provide technical drafting, modeling, and product structure support.

·        Produce design review packages and support in the configuration management of the documentation.

·        Depending on the project type, work can vary from modifying drawing packages to creating new drawing packages for 30/60/90 percent design reviews.

·        Participate in conceptual design ideas for GSE in support of Orion, Space Launch System, Artemis, International Space Station, and Launch Services Programs.

·        Successfully interface with shop technicians, design engineers, checkers, and configuration management.

·        Manage completion of tasks on schedule and within budget to the customer's satisfaction.

·        Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Here's What You'll Need:

 

The candidate must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and at least four (4) years of relevant experience. A minimum of two (2) years of education within a technical curriculum such as computer-aided design and drafting, engineering graphics, mechanical design, or other related engineering courses is preferred and may contribute toward required experience.

Job Requirements

·        Proficiency using CREO Parametric and Windchill is required, and certification is highly desirable.

·        Experience applying NASA engineering standards in a design environment is highly desirable.

·        Experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD mechanical is desired.

·        If offered a position, proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required.
