Job Title

AppOps Site Reliability Engineer

What does a successful AppOps Site Reliability Engineer do at Fiserv?

A successful AppOps Site Reliability Engineer at Fiserv runs and improves 24x7 production and non-production environments across on-prem and cloud, with a strong focus on automation, monitoring, and incident response. You keep high-volume, secure financial transaction services reliable and performant by partnering with development and infrastructure teams to build resilience, operability, and security into every release. You lead P1/P2 response through resolution, deliver RCAs and post-mortems, and turn insights into measurable reliability improvements.

What you will do?

  • Manage 24x7 operations for on-prem and cloud-hosted environments, including installations, patching, upgrades, and configuration management across Windows Server/IIS and Linux application stacks (e.g., Apache Tomcat, JBoss).
  • Design and implement reliability, scalability, and performance improvements for containerized applications running in Kubernetes (AKS/EKS) on AWS/Azure.
  • Build and maintain monitoring, alerting, and observability using tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Prometheus, and Grafana to enable proactive detection and rapid triage.
  • Lead P1/P2 incident response, drive root cause analysis and post-mortems, and maintain runbooks/operational documentation to reduce repeat incidents and improve time to recovery.
  • Automate operational workflows and delivery using scripting and DevOps toolchains (e.g., Terraform/Ansible for IaC; Azure DevOps/Jenkins/GitLab for CI/CD and deployments), while partnering with engineering teams to support safe releases and change governance.

What you must have?

  • 6+ years operating Kubernetes/container platforms (e.g., AKS/EKS/GKE), including scaling, networking, and workload orchestration.
  • 6+ years supporting production environments across AWS or Azure, including compute, storage, networking, IAM, and cost optimization.
  • 5+ years implementing observability/monitoring and log analytics (e.g., Dynatrace, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ExtraHop).
  • 5+ years leading incident response and operational automation using IaC/CI-CD/scripting (e.g., Terraform/Ansible + Jenkins/GitLab CI/GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps + Bash/PowerShell/Python).

What would be nice to have?

  • 1+ certification such as AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, AWS DevOps Engineer, Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer, or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).
  • 1+ year supporting high-volume, secure financial transaction systems (e.g., Debit Web, Card API, ACH).
  • 1+ year of hands-on administration across Linux/Windows plus core networking and database fundamentals (TCP/IP, HTTP/S, SQL).
