Under the general direction of the Patient Safety Senior Manager, the Patient Safety Specialist investigates patient safety events, facilitates improvement projects, and oversees ongoing analysis to ensure the sustainability of action items and reduce the risk of patient harm. The Quality and Patient Safety Specialist builds and maintains strong relationships with Senior Leadership, Operations Stakeholders, Clinical Risk, and Quality Teams to support clinical excellence and patient outcomes. As a collaborative team member, the incumbent actively engages with FHCC's ambulatory clinics and inpatient hospital to support patient safety and quality improvement initiatives. Excellent communication skills and a high degree of flexibility are required to successfully support patient safety initiatives and adapt to rapidly changing work priorities.

Responsibilities

• Independent triaging of reported events and response to all potential harm events to determine the level of harm.
• Assess, respond, and promote safety culture throughout the organization.
• Leading safety event investigation and follow-up, and leading the determination of safety event classification as needed to determine appropriate corrective actions.
• Support action plan completion and sustainability for safety event reviews.
• Proactive workplace monitoring to prevent harm through clinical operations partnership and presenting event reporting trends and promoting Just Culture.
• Assuring data integrity within safety-related data.
• Project management and committee participation for various bodies of work related to safety and quality improvement initiatives.
• Data support for specific metrics on quality dashboards which includes ensuring data integrity, analysis of trends and corrective action planning as required.
• Supporting design, preparation, and presentation of quality and patient safety information and education to a variety of audiences and committees.
• Support Joint Oncology Quality and Patient Safety initiatives in collaboration with University of Washington Medical Center.

Qualifications

Required 

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a health care related field.
• 3 years general health care experience. 1 year specific clinical quality, patient safety improvement team experience with demonstrated knowledge of quality and continuous performance improvement concepts and tools including but not limited to Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, and principals of high reliability.

Prefered

• Master’s Degree preferably in a health care related field.
• Licensed Registered RN in the state of Washington or other licensed health care professional.
• Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) and/or Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS)

The annual base salary range for this position is from $94,702.40 to $149,656.00 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
