SUMMARY
The CNC Setup position is responsible for set up, operation, and adjustment of CNC equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Set up, operate, and adjust controls on CNC in accordance with specifications, production drawings, production procedures, and oral instructions.
- Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunctions, adjusting machines as necessary.
- Inspect workpieces for defects, and measure workpieces to determine the accuracy of machine operation, using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and height gages.
- Must be able to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- Assist with the training of machine operators to ensure the product meets customer requirements.
- Participate in daily roto-cube meetings with setup teams.
- Respond promptly to downtime messaging.
- Improve the overall setup process to reduce downtimes and the right first-time metric
- Perform minor CNC program edits, as required.
- Act as quality assurance for the fabrication department.
- Assist in the training of final inspection personnel, and perform final inspections of parts as needed, seeking a result of ‘nominal’ (not just ‘to print’).
- Examine documents, materials, and products to monitor work processes and assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards and specifications.
- Record production data including volume produced, consumption of raw materials, and location of materials.
- Must be able to interact in-person with coworkers and leadership.
- Must be able to handle high stress situations.
- Must demonstrate a need to continuously improve processes.
- Maintain a safe work environment by overseeing employees make certain MIOSHA, safety rules and regulations are followed.
