GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer, the Associate Vice President of Strategic Communications provides executive leadership for ECS4Kids’ internal and external communications strategy. This role is responsible for shaping the organization’s public image, guiding strategic messaging, and aligning communications with ECS4Kids’ mission and long-term goals. The AVP leads the Communications Department and serves as a key advisor to the Executive Team.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategic Planning & Oversight
  • Lead the development and execution of enterprise-wide strategy for internal and external communication strategies and marketing plans that align with ECS4Kids’ mission, goals, and strategic initiatives.
  • Branding & Messaging
  • Manage ECS4Kids brand development and implementation across departments and platforms. Ensure message consistency and clarity through branding guidelines and policies.
  • Media & Public Relations
  • Oversee all media-related activities including press releases, interviews, media advisories, and President & CEO speaking engagements. Prepare talking points and briefing materials for ECS4Kids leadership.
  • Organizational Spokesperson
  • Collaborates with the CEO and executive leadership to support ECS4Kids' representation in high-profile media and public engagements.
  • Marketing & Content Creation
  • Develop and manage promotional content including brochures, flyers, website content, social media campaigns, digital and traditional advertising, video production, and event support materials.
  • Community Engagement
  • Identify and pursue strategic opportunities for President & CEO and executive participation in community events. Assist with stakeholder relations and represent ECS4Kids at meetings, panels, and conferences.
  • Executive Counsel
  • Serves as a strategic advisor to the President & CEO and Executive Team on communications matters, collaborating with the President & CEO and Senior Executive Administrative Assistant on internal and external communications such as newsletters, board correspondence, staff messages, donor outreach, and formal correspondence.
  • Social Media & Digital Outreach
  • Direct strategy for ECS4Kids’ social media platforms to align with organizational goals and enhance visibility and engagement.
  • Internal Collaboration
  • Work cross-departmentally to support communications planning, strategic initiatives, crisis response, and marketing needs.
  • Fundraising Support
  • Partner with the Development Department to promote fundraising events and secure Non-Federal Match (NFM) opportunities through effective advertising and messaging.
  • Budget & Resource Management
  • Collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer to plan and manage budgets related to marketing, public relations, and print materials.
  • Leadership & Supervision
  • Brings executive leadership, talent development and a strong cross-functional influence. Supervise the Communications Department, guiding staff to meet strategic goals and execute effective communications and outreach.
  • Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist with multimedia production including video messages and podcasts. Keep the President & CEO and Executive Team informed of agency-related matters. A
