THDF Shift Supervisor

 

DESCRIPTION:

This is a 12-hour shift position. The THDF Shift Supervisor manages the MDF/HDF raw board production crew including safety, quality, cost, efficiency, training, and environmental compliance.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform daily pre-shift meeting to pass on needed information to crews.
  • Ensures all new SOP’s are passed down and trained to specific positions.
  • Reviews production schedule with Operators to ensure a plan is set to obtain best possible output with required quality specifications.
  • Complete inspection of entire work area to ensure normal operations and employees are working in a safe manner.
  • Shift work force as needed to ensure production and housekeeping goals are met.
  • Review quality reports for material being produced at the time and when changes are made.
  • Monitor production equipment throughout the shift to ensure normal operations.
  • Monitor employees throughout the shift to ensure tasks are being completed in a safe and timely manner.
  • Review Operator quality checks and verify accurate information is passed on the Quality Control.
  • React and assist with all downtime causes to help troubleshoot to ensure production resumes as soon as possible.
  • Ensure notification are created for all emergency work orders.
  • Lead employees through root cause analysis and assists problem solving when issues occur.
  • Follow up with Operators to ensure steps are taken to minimize cost while maximizing production.
  • Ensure proper training is being performed on shift by evaluating performance.
  • Provide coaching to crew to help them achieve plant objectives.
  • Investigate and correct any material that did not meet quality specifications.
  • Ensure all environmental policies are being met and required inspections are being performed properly.
  • Monitor raw board production for surface defects and work to eliminate if defects are detected.
  • Verifies all company policies are being followed.
  • Ensures safe and healthy working conditions and an organized work environment.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

 

Shutdown Operation

  • Conducts pre-shift meeting to ensure everyone has clear understandings of their shutdown assignments.
  • Monitors and ensures safe machine shutdown procedures.
  • Assists and verifies proper locking out of machinery in a timely manner.
  • Assist when needed on filling out and performing air testing for confined space permits.
  • Follow up behind teams to ensure tasks are being completed properly and in a timely manner.
  • Shift manpower when needed to ensure jobs can be completed in the allotted time.
  • Monitor employees routinely during the shutdown to ensure they are working in a safe manner.
  • Perform inspects after jobs are completed by employees and contractors to ensure work meets expectations.
  • Assist with problem solving when issues arise from abnormal during routine task to keep everyone on schedule.
  • Ensures timelines are met to bring up machinery in sequence to enable production to resume in a timely manner.
  • Performs inspections while machines are idle to verify proper performance once required to go into production.
  • Assist with going into production and verify area has been brought back to original housekeeping requirements. 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Requires 4 or more years experience in a manufacturing environment

 

COMPETENCIES:

  • Core competencies include strong communication and interpersonal skills, listening skills, data analysis and interpretation.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and clearly communicate thoughts and work instructions.
  • Ability to set priorities based on company goals and manage multiple ongoing tasks on a daily basis
  • Position requires individual to climb multiple flights of stairs and ladders daily as well as ability to work in tight quarters.
  • Position requires unrestricted work authorization in the United States; work/visa sponsorship for this position is not available.
