Description
SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Technician works in a team environment to ensure effective installation, maintenance and repair of production and facility equipment. This role is a vital component in the company’s goals of scrap reduction, on-time deliveries, high quality products and machine efficiencies. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Performs highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facilities and equipment.
· Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
· Performs routine machinist duties and responsibilities.
· Performs mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
· Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
· Diagnoses problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
· Performs regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
· Performs a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
· Uses a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
· Detects faulty operations, defective material and reports those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
· Maintains awareness of their impact on product quality and the importance of their activities in achieving, maintaining and improving quality according to ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards, as applicable.
· Complies with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
· Performs all other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Highly motivated and able to work independently.
· Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical engineering principals, concepts, practices and theories.
· Working knowledge of all production equipment and processes.
· Good communication skills, team oriented and a self-starter.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· Requires a high school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience.
· An AA degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial maintenance is preferred.
· Four or more years of manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills. PLC/Robot programming experience and HVAC experience is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
· Has ability to read, comprehend and write the English language as it relates to safety, job responsibilities and other essential communication.
· Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills.
REASONING ABILITY:
· Possesses strong reasoning skills, including the ability to analyze problems and identify, implement and rationalize solutions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
· Must be able to lift, push and pull objects weighing up to 75 pounds consistently, with heavier weight necessary at times.
· Must be able to walk, stand, bend and twist for extended periods of time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment described below is representative of the surroundings an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
· Works within a fast-paced manufacturing environment that is not temperature regulated.
· The environment may be loud requiring hearing protection in some areas.
· Personal protective equipment is required as defined within the hazard analysis sheet defined for this position.
