The Logistics Operations Coordinator position is responsible for the transportation of deliverables facilitated through our Waltz Mill Service Center.  The position takes direction from the Global Logistics Manager and works to improve organizational performance through developing alignment of functional leaders to drive process transformation to reduce operational waste.

 

Your Day to Day:

  • Logistics Service Providers – Assure that appropriate authorized Logistics Service Providers have been sourced and are available for planned domestic and international shipments for the full scope of each shipment.  Utilizing the Logistics ATOMS system, or any other requisite system in use in the future to facilitate all shipments and generate required documentation.
  • Shipment Demands – Maintain all planned shipment information including requests, system generated demands, etc.  Coordinate with other departments to assure complete list of planned shipments is visible and actively managed.
  • Determine Delivery Terms – Develop execution / implementation plan based upon the specified PO terms and /or Customer contract terms. As appropriate, specify that suppliers and/or customers perform to the identified requirements or work with internal Trade Compliance to make recommendations that terms be changed if necessary to meet internal goals for “Safety, Service, Cost”. 
  • Customs Requirements – Fully understand what customs does and does not permit for various materials and modes of shipping.  Identify the specific Schedule B and Harmonized Tariff codes for all exports.
  • Prepare, Pack and Load for Transportation – Oversee as necessary the physical preparation, packing and loading of equipment onto transport equipment within the Division of Responsibility. Assure that the carrier is provided with any required supporting information including, bills of lading, packing lists, safety data sheets, dangerous goods declarations, etc.
  • Shipment Documentation and Labeling – Prepare as required and assure that all shipment documentation and labeling is complete and accurate to reflect the requirements and terms as specified for the shipment.
  • Dispatch and Oversee Transport of Shipment – Arrange transportation, as required, with specified logistics service providers. Assure that appropriate transport equipment is available to meet pick-up requirements. Track shipments throughout the transportation process. Implement any corrective actions that may be required to support delivery needs.
  • Coordinate the Delivery Process – Provide the delivery site with advance planning information to assure preparedness for delivery. Information may include such documentation as, packing lists, SDS sheets, delivery date and time, and driver credentials.
  • Maintain Files – Appropriately maintain files for historical data and an audit trail. In the instance of international shipments, maintain the required documentation list to accommodate legal requirements pertaining to customs.
  • Freight Bill Payment – Assure that appropriate network activity numbers (charge numbers) have been provided to support planned shipments. Log into Freight Bill Audit Payment Portal weekly to monitor and approve invoices for payment.

Who You Are:

  • BA/BS degree; experience in lieu of degree
  • 3-5 years of logistics experience 
  • High Level of Proficiency HTS codes, international shipping paperwork and customs process. Experience in Excel, PowerPoint.
