Position Summary
The Senior Site Buyer is responsible for owning material availability and supply continuity for assigned commodities within an approved supplier environment. This role applies advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to anticipate supply risks, optimize inventory strategies, and ensure alignment between demand and supply. The Senior Site Buyer drives supplier performance, leads issue resolution, and collaborates cross-functionally to improve operational outcomes, while serving as a subject matter expert and influencing continuous improvement across the supply chain.
Principal Responsibilities
• Own end-to-end material availability and supply continuity, ensuring alignment of supply with demand and production requirements
• Analyze MRP signals, forecasts, and exception messages to proactively adjust supply plans, mitigate risk, and prevent disruptions
• Manage supplier performance for approved suppliers, including delivery reliability, responsiveness, and issue resolution; lead corrective actions as needed
• Develop and maintain inventory and planning strategies (e.g., safety stock, lead times, reorder parameters) to balance service levels and working capital
• Monitor open purchase orders, supplier commitments, and material flow; lead resolution of shortages, delays, and recovery plans
• Drive cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Quality, and Operations to support engineering changes (ECR/ECO), supplier issues, and compliance requirements
• Identify and lead continuous improvement and cost optimization initiatives, including lead-time reduction, process improvements, and inventory optimization
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of ERP data (material master, planning parameters, supplier data, pricing) to support effective planning and execution
• Lead management of material lifecycle risks, including excess, obsolescence, and demand variability
• Resolve complex supplier-related issues (delivery, quality, invoice discrepancies) and act as escalation point for the team
• Communicate supply risks, constraints, and mitigation strategies to stakeholders and leadership
• Serve as a subject matter expert in purchasing systems and processes; provide guidance, training, and support to buyers and cross-functional partners
• Support compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, and internal policies within a regulated environment
• Lead or contribute to strategic initiatives, audits, and special projects as required
Education / Experience Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 2–5+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment
• Experience with supplier management, cost analysis, and procurement decision-making
• APICS (CPIM) or ISM (CPSM/C.P.M.) certification preferred
