The Oregon State Hospital in Salem, Oregon, is seeking an Institution Teacher-MA for our Supported Education Department. This role provides unique educational services that equip patients with the essential skills needed to successfully transition back into the community and reach their full potential. Our approach focuses on recovery and is patient-centered, with an emphasis on non-traditional and alternative teaching models.

What You Will Do

Assessment Services

• Engage with students to discern prior knowledge, learning needs, and college and career readiness goals.
• Organize and review information on students’ content knowledge, prior learning experiences, and learning needs from school transcripts, questionnaires, and student interviews.
• Use a variety of culturally sensitive and respectful resources to monitor learning and adjust instruction and goals.

Learning Goal Setting

• Facilitate the development of student learning goals that align with the Patient’s Treatment Care Plan and students’ interests.
• Empower students to engage with new
