Data Engineer II

SUMMARY

Arcticom, a company within the BSNC family, is currently seeking a qualified Data Engineer II for Remote role. Data Engineer II will need experience of working in a DoD data environment and knowledge of Air Force data sources. Will need a strong understanding of Data Wrangling and Cleaning - Skills in preparing and structuring raw data for enriching and transformation. The right hire will be performing transformation tasks examples: converting data types, standardizing formats, normalization, aggregations, storage and retrieval, removing duplicates, fixing typos, handling missing values, etc. They will need to perform data mining NOT data analytics: Data analytics is the process of interpreting data to find trends and patterns through BI tools. On the other hand, data mining is the exploratory process of extracting valuable hidden information from a large dataset.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Transforms data into a format that can be easily analyzed by functional users and managers, analyzes data requirements.
• Interfaces with users to extract functional needs and determine requirements.
• Consults with customers to identify and specify requirements; develops overall functions and systems requirements and specifications.
• Extracts data from multiple information systems, transforms into Excel tables for review and validation by data consumers at various locations; performs data extraction, data validation, data cleansing, and data verification.
• Develops Structured Query Language (SQL) queries to query or retrieve data from multiple databases and to performing various operations on the data such as filtering rows and columns as well as simple data manipulation, Documents Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) methodology and maintains a consistent and repeatable approach.
• Performs research to resolve problems or errors within the data and makes recommendation for resolution.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

•Ten years experience.

•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related discipline.

•Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking

·         7-10 years experience with these specific Languages/Technologies:

·         Spark

·         Python

·         SQL

·         Databricks

·         Cloud environment knowledge

o    S3 storage and migration

o    Clusters

·         iQuery SQL Editor

·         API implementation 

 

Nice to have:

·         SharePoint development knowledge

o    Lists and Libraries

o    REST APIs

o    Power Automate

o    Microsoft 365 ecosystem

·         Jira
