About the role
The Rack and Server Decommissioning team is looking for a Rack Decommissioning Technician to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team. As a technician with this team, you will be responsible for processing and facilitating large scale legacy Data Center equipment through a liquidation process to ensure that targeted equipment is ready to be removed off premises. Team members will also process large volumes of customer data to ensure that all customer data is sanitized and properly managed.
You will be able to collaborate with other teams, demonstrating strong communication skills. Amazon Data Centers respects customer data with the utmost importance, and you must be able to perform repetitive tasks without variance and adhere to strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensures customer data is protected and properly handled.
This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
Key job responsibilities

These activities include the following:
• Lifting and moving material up to 40 pounds each
• Working in cramped and/or elevated locations
• Bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching
• Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation
• Work in a noisy environment
A day in the life
Our Rack Decommission Technicians are professionals, who have industry-leading technical abilities and demonstrate a breadth of knowledge while they:
• Show a strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem solving
• Escalating to senior technicians and management as needed/required
• Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting
• Are biased to act in the absence of direction or support

• High School or equivalent diploma
• 1+ years of experience in an IT role or relevant experience
• Active Security+ certification or ability to obtain one within 90 days of start.
• Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph
• Industry standard certifications (CompTIA, Cisco, etc.)
• 1+ year data center experience
• 1+ year experience with Linux based troubleshooting
• 1+ year experience with a ticketing system
