About the role

Wood is seeking a Technical Sales Consultant with expertise in Operations Readiness and Commissioning and Start-Up (CSU) deliverables and execution. This role is pivotal in expanding Wood's Operations Readiness and Commissioning service line, focusing on the Energy and Petrochemicals sector in the USA, particularly Houston. The ideal candidate will play a key role in identifying growth opportunities, clients, and future projects for the team.

Moreover, they will engage with clients, collaborate with the G&D function, and drive the success of Wood's Operations Readiness and CSU service line.

 Principal Accountabilities:

  • Engage with existing clients to cultivate new business opportunities and foster growth 
  • Identify potential opportunities in ongoing and upcoming client projects 
  • Lead specific client contracts, serving as the primary contact for Operations Readiness and CSU scopes 
  • Provide technical expertise for bids and bid reviews, collaborating with subject matter experts 
  • Support business development efforts to secure new projects 

Strategic Accountabilities:

  • Contribute to shaping Wood's Operations Readiness and CSU team strategy and procedures 
  • Cultivate relationships with Wood colleagues globally, sharing insights and exploring new avenues 
  • Attend client governance boards to offer valuable input on key topics 
  • Ensure delivery excellence by meeting or surpassing KPIs and project deadlines 

Business Growth:

  • Deliver growth through close collaboration with Growth & Development. 
  • Develop and own business plan, drive and directly support client engagements, sales, bid and tender activity. 
  • Build and leverage strong client and Wood relationships to identify prospects and secure opportunities.
  • Ensure that the organization develops responsive, dependable and cost-‑effective services, servicing target markets, collaborating across business units and business groupings, and actively leveraging Wood solutions to address customer needs.
  • Foster and enhance customer relationships with open, honest and effective communications. Work with customer-facing teams to improve scope of work/offering, understand and deliver customer required level of services.

Minimum Experience: 

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject 
  • Experience in a Process Operations environment in Oil & Gas or Petrochemicals industries 
  • Experience of Operations Readiness and CSU deliverables and execution (Systems Completions, Completions, Pre-Commissioning, Maintenance, Operations, Training & Competency)
  • Experience in a client facing position 
  • Achievement in a lead role including standard scoping, writing and implementation 

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Excellent and demonstrable working knowledge of Operations readiness requirements and CSU requirements
  • Knowledge of maintenance system requirements and processes (CMMS, RAM, RCM etc.) 
  • Knowledge of operations and commissioning documentation including procedures, manuals, specifications etc. 
  • Knowledge of training & competency requirements for facility commissioning and start-up  
  • Strong communication skills and client focused 
  • Experience contributing to competitive sales tenders and presenting to potential clients
