Summary

Operates a tandem dump truck hauling asphalt for roadway repairs, shoulder material to repair shoulders, and sand clay to backfill pipes.

Operates a belt loader to load material from the roadway as needed for maintenance.

Perform manual labor to include mixing cement for pipe installation and repairs, grading ditches by hand, and cleaning pipe ends etc.

Operates a backhoe in cleaning ditches and placing pipe.

Operates a brine sprayer and spreader in inclement weather operations.

Operates a tractor with broom.

Operates a pipe washer as needed in cleaning pipes.

Assists with emergency and inclement weather operations, may include extended hours and/or 12- hour shifts.

Examples of duties

Six (6) months of related work experience, or an approved acceptable equivalence.  Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.  Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL within six (6) months of placement in the position.

The physical demands for the essential functions involves bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside normal scheduled work week; especially during inclement weather.
