Job Description
At Avery Dennison, we are looking for a Product Regulatory Compliance Specialist to join our team based in Turnhout.
In this role, you will support customers in all their Product Compliance related questions. You will look to remove all regulatory compliance related barriers throughout product development & distribution activities for all our products within the Performance Tapes portfolio (for both existing and new applications). It is essential the Product Regulatory Compliance Specialist is able to effectively identify & communicate threats and opportunities from a product compliance perspective to all relevant stakeholders.
You will have a significant impact by protecting our brand and by supporting Avery Dennison’s mission to deliver innovative products and intelligent solutions to customers all over the world.
The position will be located at our Performance Tapes EU site in Turnhout, Belgium, reporting to the Sustainability Director Performance Tapes (who is also based in Turnhout). You will have a dotted line into the Product Stewardship EMENA team (who is based in Oegstgeest, the Netherlands)
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Act as point of contact and guide for all external regulatory compliance related requests:
- Customer Product Compliance questionnaires
- Material Safety Data Sheets for our final products
- International Material Data System) files for Automotive Tapes
- Customer REACH related questions
- Biocompatibility statements
- Be able to do chemical risk assessment reports and guide our R&D teams to make the better chemical raw material choices for our products with the relevant final application in mind.
- Maintain working knowledge of relevant chemicals regulations (EU & UK REACH, Chemical Strategy for Sustainability, POPs, PFAS, EUDR) as well as regulations aimed at specific Performance Tapes applications.
- Evaluate the impact of expected developments in relevant legislation and regulations (global, EU and national) on product compliance and provide recommendations and support on how to best manage the pending changes
- Provide input for the design and the implementation of the product compliance strategies, policies, programs and systems
- Communicate effectively both internally and externally. The internal stakeholders include (Technical) Sales, Marketing, R&D, Legal, Operations, EHS, the main external partners are customers, suppliers, trade organizations and certified test institutes
Qualifications
- Strong scientific background & education on an academic level (Master degree or Bachelor degree) in a relevant discipline (e.g. Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology (toxicology)) or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience in a similar role within an international, fast-paced industrial environment. Global regulatory knowledge is a plus.
- Strong Analytical skills and consistent eye for detail
- Engineering knowledge and technical acumen with an ability to understand technical specification and communicate the implications to non-technical people
- Strong communication skills
- Customer oriented
