The Boeing Company’s Global Talent, Development and Employee Experience organization is seeking a Senior Employee Assessment Science Manager to join the Assessment Science team in Seattle, WA.

The ideal candidate will have advanced training in I-O psychology, assessment design, data analytics, and have extensive experience in implementing employee assessments on a large organizational scale. In this pivotal role, you will lead a team of Industrial-Organizational (I-O) assessment scientists, shaping our employee assessment strategies to attract, develop, and retain top talent. You will also forecast and plan strategic assessment data science initiatives and guide the development of integrated employee assessment plans and policies.
 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and develop a high-performing team of I-O research and data assessment scientists

  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, providing clear direction to achieve strategic organizational goals

  • Conduct comprehensive job analyses, utilizing interviews, observations, and job analysis questionnaire (JAQ) development to identify the tasks, knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) required for various roles within the organization

  • Design and implement a range of employee assessment tools tailored to meet organizational needs

  • Lead the development of assessments for various hourly and salaried roles, employing classical test theory (CTT) and item response theory (IRT) methodologies to ensure quality, validity, and fairness

  • Oversee the development and execution of selection processes that utilize assessments to identify candidates who align with job requirements

  • Train recruiters and hiring managers on assessment usage and troubleshoot integration issues

  • Design and implement concurrent and predictive validation studies to evaluate the effectiveness of selection assessments, ensuring they meet organizational standards

  • Analyze assessment data to identify training needs and collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement targeted training programs

  • Conduct research projects, such as capturing quality of hire, to enhance hiring practices

  • Leverage expertise to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and overall workplace well-being through data-driven insights and interventions

  • Collaborate with the Employee Listening and Organizational Research and Assessment team on research initiatives to support data-driven decision-making

  • Plan and lead strategic employee assessment data science and analytics initiatives that align with organizational objectives

  • Develop and execute integrated assessment plans, policies, and procedures

  • Collaborate closely with Human Resources, management, and other departments to ensure alignment of assessment strategies with organizational goals

  • Build and maintain relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with external vendors providing custom and standard testing or screening solutions

  • Monitor vendor performance and conduct periodic reviews to ensure high service quality

  • Stay current with industry trends, research, and best practices in employee assessment and I-O psychology to continuously improve assessment methodologies

  • Provide vision, oversight, and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes

  • Lead process improvements within the assessment and data science functions, ensuring operational efficiency and effectiveness

  • Provide expert consultation to leadership on best practices in talent management and employee selection

  • Prepare technical assessment documentation that meets legal standards and aligns with relevant guidelines

  • Offer insights based on research findings to inform strategic decision-making

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology

  • 5+ years of experience in assessment development and implementing pre-hire assessments in large organizations

  • 5+ years of experience leading and managing a team of I-O assessment scientists

  • Experience managing external employee assessment vendors
