We are Delivery Hero.</p><h3>Job Description</h3><p>We are on the lookout for an Senior Engineer (Python) to join the AI Autopilot team in Logistics on our journey to always deliver amazing experiences.</p><p>In our Logistics Team, you’ll tackle high-impact challenges that make last-mile delivery efficient, affordable, and sustainable. Your work will directly improve experiences for riders, end customers, merchants and support agents across the globe. Each enhancement you contribute will help Delivery Hero optimize delivery operations, supporting expansion into new areas like grocery and retail.</p><p>We are committed to automate the daily work of support agents, providing customers a great support experience while making sure our human agents can focus on the harder problems. Our internal tool Agent Copilot already provides our human agents step-by-step instructions to solve a customer’s problem in adherence to the standard operating procedures, and even uses LLMs to  understand automatically when customers provide relevant details in the chat. Your job is to take this to the next level: Virtual Agents. This new set of tools and services will  play a crucial role in achieving our goal by applying the latest AI technology and innovative solutions to automate the whole conversation with the customer and the problem resolution.</p><ul><li><p>Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and address challenges in the automated conversation with customers.</p></li><li><p>Design and develop features that improve the quality of automated chats, covering various problem spaces such as natural language understanding, conversational flow &amp; engagement or handling errors &amp; uncertainty in human language.</p></li><li><p>Implement and maintain scalable and reliable backend systems, integrating with major third-party AI solutions or self-hosted solutions.</p></li><li><p>Continuously monitor and optimize system performance. We live devops.</p></li><li><p>Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies in the field of AI and NLP.</p></li><li><p>Design and implement cutting-edge solutions that will transform the customer support industry.</p></li><li><p>Craft and maintain world-class, high-traffic services and APIs in a team of experienced software engineers.</p></li><li><p>Participate in code reviews and application debugging and diagnosis.</p></li><li><p>Practice modern software development methodologies such as Continuous Delivery, TDD, and Scrum.</p></li><li><p>Provide the best value for our stakeholders and customers by maintaining alignment with our product vision.</p></li></ul><p> </p><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Python expert with 4+ years of experience, specializing in NLP and AI.</li><li><p>Strong computer science foundation, including data structures, algorithms, and software design.</p></li><li><p>Experience of cloud platform hosting via AWS/GCP and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Helm).</p></li><li><p>Proficient in LLM technology and  Conversational Interfaces.</p></li><li><p>Commitment to engineering excellence, including high-quality code, automated testing, and best practices.</p></li><li><p>Pragmatic and collaborative, able to work independently, make decisions, and take ownership beyond deployment.</p></li></ul><p><strong>Nice to have:</strong></p><ul><li><p>Experience with implementing chatbots.</p></li><li><p>Experience with VertexAI</p></li><li><p>Familiar with common CI/CD tools like ArgoCD, Drone, spinnaker.</p></li><li><p>Familiar with common monitoring / alerting / logging tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, distributed tracing</p></li><li><p>Building, maintaining &amp; running a high traffic system in a microservice environment with kubernetes.</p></li><li><p>Familiar with communication between microservices best practices.</p></li><li><p>Superior knowledge in relational databases (ACID, isolation &amp; index types, storage engines) especially with PostgreSQL</p></li><li><p>Knowledge on document-oriented databases (MongoDB, Couchbase, DynamoDB, Firestore)</p></li></ul><h3>Additional Information</h3><p>Ensuring you and all our Heroes are looked after, happy, and healthy is always on the menu.
