Product Engineer - Battery Cooling

SUMMARY
This position is part of EGR, iCAC and Battery Cooling technical development and acquisition team in NAFTA. The position is to provide technical leadership for product development and optimization of current and future iCAC and Battery cooling designs for e-PTC. The engineer will work with the customer in understanding and developing their requirements and harmonizing with MAHLE standards and capabilities to design and develop a suitable products. This position will oversee all technical aspects of assigned development project by Product manager, such as Design, Validation, Costing as well as cost reduction/avoidance (iPCO), Industrialization, Launch and Series Support including understanding warranty claims. The Product engineer will also be working hand in hand with the Program Management team while getting support from Purchasing, Logistics, Preventive Quality, Supplier Quality, and Process Planning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs under the direction of the Product Manager and as a member of a project team, gives technical leadership for product development and optimization of iCAC and Battery cooling products

This is a product engineer position to lead and work with all cross functions such as purchasing, quality, program management, and sales to ensure the development program is meeting and keeping all its milestones and all technical deliveries from prototypes to technical presentations

Coordination of concept, design, and release of iCAC & Battery cooling components

Define thermal capacities and technical requirements for iCAC& Battery cooling components and harmonize with customer needs

Conduct/complete production trials (MBPR/TPR) in accordance with the schedule identified by the project team/customer and achieve customer PPAP

Create and execute DVP&R for iCAC & battery cooling products

Liaison between Stuttgart Engineering and local customers

Provide technical input for component level DFMEA and design for assembly workshops

Work with the test lab to ensure all test specs are understood and executed accordingly

Lead component level design reviews and drawing evaluations to ensure proper application of specifications and GD&T as it relates to interfacing with suppliers and customers (both external and internal)

Lead and direct component design engineer in the creation of the BOM, 3D models, and 2D drawings according to the schedule identified by the project team/customer

Participate in project team, customer, and department meetings

Lead, establish and maintain supplier technical communications and open Issue list for assigned components
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor degree in an Engineering discipline is required; Masters degree in a plus

Minimum of 3 years experience in automotive product development, inluding product launch is required

Experience in Battery cooling, battery systems or battery related technologies for automotive application is highly desired

Knowledge of heat exchangers & manufacturing processes is preferred

Knowledge of thermodynamics is required

Knowledge of and experience in the facilitation of DFMEA workshops in a project team

Knowledge of creating and maintaining DVP&R

Ability to interact with customers, suppliers and co-workers in a positive and constructive manner
-
Ability to travel internationally and domestically (up to 10%)
