Position Overview
QVS Engineering is a growing team whose mission is to improve the quality of FFSS products through their life-cycle, proactively handling component and module obsolescence while strategically reducing COGS (Cost of Goods Sold). The Senior Electrical Engineer (QVS) works with a cross-functional team to resolve complex ultrasound systems’ quality issues, defining and implementing innovative modifications to existing electrical designs to reduce cost while still maintaining high quality, and handling obsolescence of electrical/electronic components. Specific requirements include electronic troubleshooting experience using advanced lab equipment on circuit boards with large BGAs, expertise in power supplies/power converters, low power design, electronic component selection, and grounding schemes. Experiences in analyzing high speed signals, knowledge of standard buses including PCI express, USB and I2C, knowledge of memory technology, ASIC and FPGA are also required. Experiences with circuits that meet stringent EMI and RFI requirements are highly desired. Previous experience working with FDA-regulated products is highly desired.

Job Description
Essential Job Functions:
Resolve product quality issues identified by Operations, Service and Customer. Acquire detailed product knowledge by examining schematics, specifications, and consulting other engineers who have knowledge of the products.
Help define the prioritization of quality funnel projects.
Select and qualify electronic components to handle obsolescence. Work with component engineers and planners to ensure that the production line is not impacted by obsolescence issues
Define potential value engineering funnel projects for product cost reduction.
Contribute as a primary architect and subject matter expert for electronic module designs that are modified for quality, value, or sustaining purposes.
Contribute to technical decisions/judgment that affect project/program scope
Design or modify test fixtures needed to validate electronic module design changes
Responsible for the quality of work, reliability, schedule, and cost to support the project manager, and delegation of tasks on one or more modules.
Interface with contract manufacturers and the global supply chain team as needed for any of the responsibilities listed.
Follow established processes/procedures to maintain high quality output of all projects undertaken
Responsible and accountable for carrying out the requirements of the company's quality system
Knowledge/Experience:
- BSEE or MSEE from an ABET accredited institution
- 9+ years’ combined experience in digital and analog circuit development
- 5+ years’ experience in developing or modifying schematics and specifications to make changes for quality, cost, or obsolescence purposes.
- 5+years’ experience with electronic troubleshooting equipment including advanced oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and logic analyzers for high speed circuits that may interface with large BGAs.
- 5+ years’ experience using PC based design tools Altium, Orcad (Altium preferred)
- 5+ years’ experience with circuit analysis tools such as SPICE or HyperLynx
- Demonstrated experience with low-noise analog circuit design
- Significant experience with power supplies design/modification
- Experience writing and debugging test scripts – Ruby preferred, other languages acceptable
- Experience debugging standard buses including PCI Express, USB, I2C, high speed transceivers, advanced memory interfaces (e.g. DDR3) desired
