Overview

The IS Mechanical Designer II will design mechanical systems, components, or assemblies using engineering principles.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include:

• Works closely with project managers, engineers and contractors to create unique high-level concepts and designs for all assigned projects.• Works closely with the team to ensure the successful execution of goals of all assigned projects.• Conducts field surveys to identify existing equipment types and system capabilities.• Produces design documents including drawings, system flow diagrams and architecture, wiring diagrams, construction details, and equipment scheduling.• Delivers concepts and designs according to strict project deadlines.• Contributes to all areas of the creative process and department.• Performs work under direct supervision.• Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.• Assist with the development of technical reports or related documents.• Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to team members.• Other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications

• Associate degree in HVAC Technology, Building Systems Engineering, Construction Management, or related field• 2-4 years’ experience with building construction, especially mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or automatic temperature controls.• Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT• Strong technical skills• Effective oral and written communications skills• Vision and Creativity• Ability to meet deadlines• Planning skills• Possesses beginning to working knowledge of the subject matter.• Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.• Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.

 

Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree• Building Automation System design and sequence writing experience – Preferred systems include Siemens, JCI, Honeywell, Trane, Struxureware, and Tridium• HVAC Design and Commissioning experience – Preferred systems include Chilled Water, Heating Water, Condenser Water, and Steam• Higher Education and Healthcare design experience

 

Travel Requirements

10-25% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.
