About the role:
The Inventory Accounting Manager is uniquely positioned to make a lasting impact in a fast-paced, collaborative environment by overseeing our inventory accounting operations and close processes (among other topics). This role requires strong collaboration between cross-functional groups including Operations and Supply Chain. This role will manage a Senior Inventory Accountant. The Inventory Accounting Manager ensures accurate books and records and effective internal controls by embracing the best accounting practices suited for a public company’s financial close process.

In this role, you will:
- Manage various close responsibilities including inventory (ASC 330), costs to fulfill a contract (ASC 340), leasing (ASC 842), and investments (ASC 320).
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual inventory accounting processes including coordinating with Operations, Supply Chain, F&S, SOX PMO, and the broader accounting organization.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and practices based on inventory accounting principles (ASC 330 and ASC 340).
- Perform and/or review balance sheet account reconciliations for responsible areas.
- Work cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, R&D, and accounting leadership to ensure inventory-related reserves are appropriate. This includes E&O reserves, warranty reserves, and evaluating losses on purchase commitments.
- Ensure estimates and assumptions for key reserves are reasonable, supportable, and explainable to internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage deferred connected device costs including owning the timing of recognition of such costs under ASC 340 (costs to fulfill a contract), and partnering with Technical Accounting to ensure the period of benefit is reasonable.
- Evaluate the attribution of expenses to cost of goods sold related to performance obligations for vehicles, accessories, technology, services, and over-the-air products.
