Senior Internal AuditorACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENTTo provide professional and innovative audit services to the Board of Director’s Audit Committee, Board of Directors, and Senior Management of the credit union and its subsidiaries that assist in achieving VyStar’s strategic goals.
• Perform independent, objective assurance and consulting activities designed to add value and improve the organization’s operations.
• Assist in accomplishing the organization’s objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve risk management, control, and governance processes.
• Maintain the highest professional competency and integrity standards in conformance with the Institute of Internal Auditors’ International Professional Practices Framework, which includes the Global Internal Audit Standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Continuously maintain independence and objectivity.
- Responsible for understanding and applying the Institute of Internal Auditors' International Professional Practices Framework, which includes the Global Internal Audit Standards.
- Able to perform the following functions with limited guidance from the Auditor-in-Charge or Audit Management:
- Identify and assess the variety of risks inherently present in financial, operational, and business systems
- Evaluate the potential for fraudulent activity
- Evaluate key controls in place to mitigate risk levels
- Analyze information and data and draw conclusions based upon professional judgment
- Interview clients about risks and controls
- Perform integrated operational, regulatory, and system application audits throughout the credit union and its subsidiaries with limited oversight.
- Drive adherence to audit schedule and execute the Audit Plan/projects within budgeted hours and established deadlines on a consistent basis.
- Perform Auditor-in-Charge duties for moderate scope audits which includes:
- Managing all phases of the audit (e.g., planning the scope of review, execution of fieldwork, reviewing workpapers and auditor’s judgment, etc.) with limited oversight from Audit Management
- Preparing findings reports and draft audit reports with minimal revisions
- Supervising the efforts of other auditors to ensure audit timelines are being met
- Ensuring the quality of work and due professional care adheres to the Global Internal Audit Standards.
- Mentoring and coaching new and existing internal auditors to develop their technical and behavioral auditing skills.
- Providing continuous feedback regarding performance of the audit team throughout fieldwork, post audit evaluations, and workpaper review comments.
- Proactively communicate with the client and Audit Management on the audit status.
- Leading exit meetings and effectively communicate audit results and recommendations to management.
- Build strong product and services, operational and technical knowledge of all areas of the organization, including applicable policies/procedures, laws, and regulations to provide specialized subject matter expertise to the team. Share specialized knowledge of assigned client areas with other auditors when coaching and mentoring others.
- Document workpapers, with minimal revisions and in conformance with the Global Internal Audit Standards.
- Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships throughout the organization. Protect and support the audit team's credibility and integrity through individual actions and mentoring others.
- Actively participate in quarterly client meetings, special projects, conversions, and new initiatives in a risk consultant manner, proactively promoting risk management concepts.
