Purpose

 

This roles will oversee and manage closure, site operations, maintenance, security and leadership of on-site personnel (employees and contractors) for the legacy assets.  Lead the integrated contractor management, risk management, procurement, record management, and strategic planning, HSE, Engineering, Field Supervision. regulatory compliance, government and community stakeholder management and cost control of the sites.

About the Role

 

−    Leads, coaches and mentors team members to ensure delivery against performance targets.   
−    Direct and supervise site personnel and contractors.
−    Oversees environmental monitoring programs
−    Oversees radiation control programs
−    Leads and oversees technical studies and small projects to advance closure and manage site risks
−    Collaborates with BHP functional teams to scope and execute risk reduction and closure studies and projects.  
−    Leads development of asset strategies for closure and liability management and oversees implementation of strategies
−    Contribute to and comply with the long term closure plan including meeting all required regulatory and risk based maintenance, inspection and testing requirements, including daily monitoring, and coordination of work and project activities.  Provide project status updates to Management.  
−    Coordination with Projects Team and other Functions for input into budgeting, strategic planning process, divesture or other business development opportunities.   
−    Ensure full understanding of legal issues and liabilities and the effective management. 
−    Provides expertise for continual improvement in identification, analysis, and control of risks.
−    Supports BHP Operating System implementation through preparation and support of managing and data gathering tools. 
−    Participates in Field Leadership program for HSE at the site
−    Supports management and administration of risk documentation
−    Develop and maintain all relevant documentation including HSEC forms, contractor information, work scope, drawings etc. to ensure safe execution of work activities and projects.   
−    Ensure that employees, contractors and sub-contractors follow and have actions that support compliance with HSEC principals.  Ensure that all work is executed safely and according to design with the goal of zero harm to personnel and environment.   
−    Contributes to the preparation of budgets and manage costs to the provision and budget. 
−    Contribute to plan, control, execute, monitor and improve site operations, maintenance and security. 
−    Compliance with all local legislation and regulations, Group Level Documents and local asset procedures including safety, health, environment and community and associated corporate reporting.    
−    Builds and maintains strong working relationships with local community, contractor and government/regulator stakeholders.    

About You

 

−    Degree in Engineering or Science.
−    Strong knowledge of MS product suite. 
−    Strong technical writing and communication skills. 
−    An ability to interact and communicate professionally with site staff, and functional support teams.
−    Minimum 7 years experience working in environmental remediation field.
−    Knowledge and experience with UMTRCA, NRC, EPA, and environmental and mining regulations in Utah and New Mexico. 
−    Experience on sites with radiation safety requirements.
−    Knowledge of environmental monitoring program development and management.
−    Knowledge of field risk assessment and hazard identification.
−    Experience with contractor and consultant management.
