Department/Unit Summary:
The environment in The Adult Emergency Department is fast-paced, high-volume, and staff is like a family. We care for all patients who present to our department to be treated for emergent medical conditions.
Our patients are unique because we never know who is going to come through our doors. One of the perks of working in my department is the opportunity to treat patients with a wide array of illnesses and injuries.
We orient new staff by providing individualized orientation based on the unique needs of the staff member.
Shift:
PRN Night Shift - 6:45 pm - 7:15 am
*PRN staff are required to work a minimum four 12-hour shifts every six weeks; however, candidates must commit to a full-time orientation period (three 12-hour shifts per week) for the first 4 weeks of employment..
Care Partner Position Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) AND one of the following:
Current enrollment in a program of professional nursing RN and successful completion of the first semester of nursing school to include nursing fundamentals clinical, or
Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program within the past year (the certification is not mandatory, but a certificate of completion is necessary), or
Minimum of one year of previous (and within the past two years) experience as a care partner, nursing assistant, or patient care technician.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Assists with day to day delivery of patient care.
• Facilitates efficient and safe patient care and flow by following work area standards.
• Serves as a liaison for communication and education of patient and family needs.
• Supports unit operations and patient flow by maintaining supplies, equipment and unit environmental standards.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES
• Environment of Care (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience or training working with set up and maintenance of patient exam rooms, supplies and equipment.
• Care Partner Patient Documentation (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience or training working with clinical applications for patient documentation.
• Clinical Competencies (Novice): Demonstrates sufficient fundamental proficiency to assist and perform clinical care including but not limited to vital signs, phlebotomy, specimen collection, medication administration and point of care testing as directed by unit standards.
