Armstrong World Industries, Inc., is seeking an energetic and team-oriented entry level Mechanical and/or Electrical Designer at our Corporate Campus in Lancaster, PA or Hilliard, OH plant.   

 

In this role, you will be responsible for support of mechanical and electrical design for manufacturing equipment/system design and fabrication.  Initial assignments will involve working with an experienced mechanical and/or electrical designer and will consist of providing robust and safe equipment/system designs, including appropriate documentation, to meet performance and schedule requirements. As soon as experience and understanding are gained, the designer will receive design assignments of moderate to complexity.  The assignments will be highly variable as to the nature and scope of the problem and may extend to production units of considerable complexity.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Updating engineering drawings from Arrangement, Assemblies and detail drawing files
  • Translates mechanical arrangement and/or assembly parts into detail drawings to be used by fabrication shop(s). Prepares drawing packages to support engineering specifications
  • Responsible for creating drawings of electrical schematics, control panel layouts, power, instrument, control cable schedules, grounding plan/grid, junction box wiring diagrams, control panel layout, wiring diagrams, substation equipment, power house and MCC building plans, installation details and field wiring layouts for industrial equipment and  systems
  • Ensures adherence to applicable codes and standards within discipline
  • Translates design requirements into specific design configurations
  • Ensures designs are properly recorded and archived
  • Works with manufacturing and field personnel in performing shop and on-site check outs

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Must be pursuing a degree in Engineering CAD Technology
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, cumulative and within major
  • Must have completed a minimum of one year of education prior to the Summer 2020 internship start
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD (current using 2018)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
