Visual and Media Engineer II (CHDCM)

Under the supervision of the CHDCM Director of Production/Facilities, the Visual Media Engineer provides engineering and technical services and maintains studio and broadcasting equipment within the CHDCM, including but not limited to the Television Studio Facility in Fahy Hall, the Media Studio within the University Center, and related spaces serving the curricular and extra-curricular activity. Additionally, the Visual Media Engineer manages the inventory and student use of television, broadcast, audio/visual and digital cinema equipment within both the Visual and Sound Media program and other related activities within the College, such as SHU TV.

Duties and Responsibilities:

*Television Studio/Media Studio Manager - Position serves as point-of-contact for the Television Studio facilities with responsibilities in the management of professionally-operating media spaces: staffing student employees and volunteers; scheduling use of the space; its equipment and tools; working with campus partners such as facilities and housekeeping on the upkeep and maintenance of the space, its equipment and tools.
*Specialized In-Class support technician - Position serves the Studio Television courses in the successful operation of professional Television studio recording/broadcast equipment; technical support from this position allows for students' experiential education using maintained, reliable equipment which they can easily access; provides further assistance in the instructional practice of complex studio equipment.
*Student Activity support technician - Position serves the Television and other related production activity occurring outside of class such as SHU TV; create and implement systems and educational sessions to allow for successful student Visual Media activities that do not require constant supervision.
*Visual Media Technical Student Mentorship - Leads tours, runs training sessions, and puts overall efforts toward the encouragement and guidance of students participating in the Visual Media courses and activities; consults students on successful operation of equipment with the unique needs of their respective productions and class work.
*Visual Media Project Management - Project-based activity supporting the programmatic work and reputation of the Visual Sound Media program and its related student activity, including: web and digital updates to showcasing our facilities.
*Equipment Management - Lead on the television and visual media field equipment; creates, implements and manages systems of student sign-out; in charge of all Visual Media equipment inventory, its maintenance and replacements; supervises student workers on equipment sign-out responsibilities.
