How will you make a difference?
As a member of the Operations Team, you will be responsible for supporting manufacturing operations change management within the Grove City Diesel Engine New Manufacturing Facility whether that is driven from Capital Investment, Rearrangement, New Product Introduction, Continuous Improvement, or other initiatives. You will support the daily operations of the area to ensure reliability and consistency on the production line. This position requires being a change agent and building a team atmosphere. In this position, the candidate will need to use influence to get all vested parties working towards the same goal. The ability to work in a matrixed organization is critical to success in this role. This position requires working onsite.
What do we want to know about you?
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with 5 years of experience in Manufacturing).
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- One year of experience supervising and developing large teams is a plus.
- Diesel engine assembly experience.
- Strong Leadership skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and 5S concepts.
What will your typical day look like?
- Oversight and management of front-line manufacturing employees.
- Execute routine analyses using vested methods and technologies and/or contributes to technological developments in teams under supervision.
- Execute routine but complex analysis.
- Lead improvement project initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, lean and cost reduction.
- Be responsible for solving problems and driving continuous improvement by identifying key deliverables, developing proposed options, determining payback, creating layouts, and leveraging the support team.
- Lead assembly improvement projects as the technical lead for a mixed model production line. Identify tooling, fixturing and/or process improvements. Create cost and time estimates for completion of projects identified.
- Interact daily with hourly assemblers, quality engineers and manufacturing engineers to increase first time yield, output, and time on product.
- Lead cross-functional teams in a matrix organization to drive positive change while ensuring clear ownership and communication exists among the team.
- Communicate progress, status, and issues to the business.
- Create and build a team culture driving accountabilities for all parties to own the outcome.
