We are looking for a Technical Product Manager, Machine Room-Less (MRL) Elevators to join Product Management chapter (competence organization) / Machine Room-less Elevators tribe (agile organization).

Job description and responsibilities

Machine Room-less Elevators tribe is responsible of safety, quality, profitability, and customer satisfaction of all KONE machine room-less elevators globally. Customer value creation with new innovations is a central element of tribe’s mission.

Machine Room-less Elevators is a global tribe with presence in North America, Europe, India, and China. We work in hybrid model, that is, you may work partly from home. However, this role requires the selected candidate to live permanently in Finland and be present at Hyvinkää office on weekly basis.

As machine room-less elevators technical Product Manager you are responsible of the sellable product’s system level technology. You drive for harmonized solutions while respecting the area-wise requirements, such as, codes and standards. You view these requirements and ever-changing market environment as an opportunity for creating competitive edge using emerging technologies.

Product Managers work closely with the tribe lead, execution lead, project managers and business colleagues. You also stay abreast of technology tribes’ projects and steer the component development to meet the elevator product, and thus also customer, needs. Of course, you don’t need to do all this alone. Your team members are experts in their field and situated globally. With your team you ensure that the individual R&D endeavors come together as successful elevator products.

Generic Product Manager responsibilities

  • Products/components are aligned with the company strategy

  • Products/components are competitive throughout their lifecycle

  • Development projects understand and prioritize customer value

  • Priorities, road maps and backlogs are up to date and proactively communicated to all stakeholders and interested parties

  • End to end ownership of the product/component, that is, dependency management with, for example, offering, marketing, supply, sales, installation, and maintenance

Main responsibilities specific to this position

  • Global ownership of machine room-less elevator sellable product system technology

  • Build and maintain machine room-less elevator technology strategy considering supply base, elevator product roadmaps and regulation

  • Ensure that technology development projects support the Machine Room-less Elevator tribe strategy

  • Lead a global team of experts by providing vision, prioritizing, removing roadblocks and managing stakeholders

To succeed in the role, you have

  • M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar field

  • 5+ years of product leadership experience in global environment with proven track record of accomplishments

  • Excellent communication skills in English; both verbal and written.

  • Ability to lead, motivate and influence people across the organization

  • Balance between technical expertise and business acumen

    • You possess strong business mind and capability to quantify customer value and business benefits for R&D efforts

    • Elevator system knowledge is considered an asset while thorough knowledge of at least one elevator component is a requirement.

  • Experience on lean & agile ways of working is considered an asset

  • Experience on requirement management is considered an asset
