About the team

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to be part of our small but mighty claims and insurance accounting team who owns the claims and insurance accounting across our global business. This is a super fast-paced, dynamic and critical part of our business; this role will partner closely with teams across the business including FP&A, data analytics and insurance operations teams to ensure our financials accurately reflect our insurance costs and exposures. On top of that, this role will work closely with accounting, finance and insurance leadership to continue to uplevel and develop processes as our business continues to optimize, mature and further expand internationally. This role will report directly to the Senior Manager of Accounting and will also work closely with our Director of Accounting and Corporate Controller - it is a highly visible and critical role, which requires adept problem solving and critical thinking, as well as strong Excel skills and a passion for data analysis.

What you will do

  • As a Senior Accountant you’ll prepare journal entries and account reconciliations, investigate and resolve discrepancies as needed.
  • Prepare financial statement variance analysis and ensure documentation has meaningful explanations for fluctuations and identify anomalies.
  • Ensure physical damage monthly accrual is accurate and assumptions to support the data are valid, make sense and documented in detail so they can be explained to our auditors.
  • Develop new processes and find opportunities to improve the speed, accuracy and efficiency of the month end close.
  • Lead critical accounting projects that improve the accuracy of our data for internal and external reporting.
  • Improve existing processes, suggest and implement improvements to scale and automate procedures.
  • Be the key point of contact for audit PBC requests specifically related to claims and insurance.
  • Experience working with large datasets, complex models and building reconciliations that are easy to follow, auditable and meet GAAP reporting requirements.

Your profile

  • 4+ years of experience in general accounting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance and/or Business.
  • CPA with big four audit experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with NetSuite or another large-scale accounting system.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel & modeling skills (i.e. Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, Indexmatch and working with large data sets).

The SF base salary target range for this full-time position is $128,000- $156,000  + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
