Seeking a compassionate, skilled, upbeat Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our tight-knit team.Hiring bonus of $2500.00 for successful candidate! Our ideal candidate will have previous experience with exotics.Responsibilities include:
- Demonstrated hands-on experience providing nursing care to exotic companion animals, including but not limited to birds, reptiles, small mammals, and other non-traditional species
- Strong understanding of species-specific anatomy, physiology, behavior, and husbandry requirements
- Proficient in safe handling, restraint, and stress-minimizing techniques for a wide variety of exotic species
- Ability to accurately obtain and interpret vital signs across multiple exotic species
- Experience with anesthesia monitoring and recovery for exotic patients, including recognition of species-specific anesthetic risks
- Skilled in venipuncture and sample collection appropriate to exotic species (e.g., jugular, cephalic, lateral saphenous, tail vein, toenail clips, etc., as applicable)
- Competent in administering medications (oral, injectable, topical, nebulized) with attention to proper dosing and routes for exotic species
- Experience assisting with diagnostic procedures, including radiographs, ultrasound, endoscopy, and laboratory sample preparation
- Ability to recognize and promptly report abnormal patient parameters, pain, or signs of distress in exotic species
- Knowledge of infection control, biosecurity, and zoonotic disease precautions specific to exotics
- Experience providing nutritional support and husbandry-based treatments, including syringe feeding, tube feeding, environmental adjustments, and enclosure setup
- Ability to maintain accurate, detailed medical records in an electronic medical record system
- Demonstrated commitment to patient advocacy, high-quality nursing care, and continuous learning in exotic medicine
- Pay up to $38 an hour
