Job Summary
The Field Controls Technician (FCT) Lead is responsible for leading, deploying, and developing a high-performing field controls technician team. This role ensures effective project execution by aligning staffing, schedules, safety, and customer expectations while serving as a key escalation point for field delivery challenges. The FCT Lead works closely with project managers, project leads, and company leadership to ensure consistent, high-quality outcomes across projects.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Workforce Planning
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Field Controls Technician team through clear direction, training, and performance management.
- Provide ongoing, constructive feedback and support professional development.
- Forecast staffing and skill requirements; coordinate training to align workforce readiness with business demand.
- Assign FCT personnel to projects based on skills, experience, preferences, and project requirements.
- Monitor morale, workload, and team dynamics; support engagement, retention, and conflict resolution.
- Manage team member compensation, time off, and performance reviews.
Project Execution & Risk Management
- Coordinate with leadership, project managers, and trade partners to deploy field resources effectively.
- Serve as an escalation point for field execution challenges, proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
- Ensure adherence to project schedules, budgets, quality standards, and customer requirements.
- Track, document, and communicate project requirements related to safety, workflow, and billing.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Communicate with customers and stakeholders in a professional, positive, and proactive manner.
- Follow customer-specific site standards and procedures.
- Provide responsive, patient, and effective support to resolve customer issues.
- Maintain accountability through consistent follow-up and fulfillment of commitments.
