ShiftMed is looking for a Senior Staff Accountant to assist the Finance department.  We are looking for a self-starting, organized, detail-oriented candidate with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment to perform a variety of accounting and administrative duties. The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for month-end closings, maintaining records of financial transactions and ensuring the accuracy of transactions and financial reporting. The Senior Staff Accountant will maintain account reconciliations, support the financial statement consolidation process, support the budgeting process, compile KPIs, and conduct financial analysis activities. This position reports to the Assistant Controller.

About your role:

  • Assist in month-end close, prepare journal entries, reconcile intercompany transactions, and maintain all balance sheet reconciliations
  • Reconcile general ledger and subsidiary accounts to ensure correct account classification and accuracy of balances by researching and resolving reconciling items
  • Reconcile bank and cash balances and corporate credit card accounting, and review daily banking activity
  • Manage monthly AR and AP close process including a reconciliation of AR sub-ledger to internal billing system and preparation of weekly AR dashboard
  • Assist with preparation and month-end review and consolidation of financial statements, preparing variance analysis, and ensuring accounting activities are well supported and documented
  • Assist in reviewing and reporting corporate metrics and gross margin analysis
  • Assist with an annual audit and other ad hoc audits and various tax filings
  • Review payroll entries prepared by the payroll accountant
  • Assist with submission of data in support of banking covenants as needed
  • Assist with annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting
  • Perform special projects as needed and provide support to the accounting team

Requirements and Skills:  

  • BS in Accounting required
  • 2-3 years accounting experience
  • Strong Excel skills
  • QuickBooks or similar accounting software experience required
