Medtronic’s Test Development Team in Tempe, Arizona, is looking for a Sr Test Development Engineer to develop precision parametric measurement, dynamic signal analysis, and automated test system software for PCB level and Device level integrated system level testing.

The primary location is Tempe, AZ (this is on site position). The travel requirement is up to 10%.

A Day in the Life Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Designs, develops, and implements testing methods and equipment.
  • Plans and arranges the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices.
  • Provides test area with parameters for sample testing and specifies tests to be performed.
  • Compiles data and defines changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements.
  • Responsible for testing all customer samples and for special tests that cannot be performed in the test area.
  • Testing, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing site complex issues

Must Have: Minimum Requirements:  To be considered for this role, please ensure the minimum requirements are evident on your resume.

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR Advanced degree with 2 years of relevant experience.

Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Developing software applications using ATE (Automated Test Equipment) to test medical  electronics. Preferred experience with mixed signal testers (SPEA, and Microtest) and working knowledge on ultra low-power ASIC testing
  • Designing, developing and debugging dedicated hardware and software, performing test verification and validation activities, performing Measurement Systems Analysis (Gage R&R studies); all in support of test solution release for manufacturing testing of medical grade electronics
  • Utilizing software languages and environments preferably in C, C++, LabView, and Test Stand  to support test application software development
  • Troubleshooting yield and performance issues to root cause using statistics-based analyses and providing related technical solutions
  • Following test application development procedures and demonstrate compliance through technical documentation generation
  • Designing electrical schematics and understanding PCB layout requirements
  • Fundamental statistical analysis techniques
  • Fundamental project management skills
  • Understanding of design for testability (DFT) implementation & strategies, capability to provide input to design groups to ensure reliable and accurate production testing is a plus
  • Hands on experience with lab equipment: Oscilloscope, Power Supplies, DVM, etc.
  • Excellent working communication (both written and verbal) and the ability to work with the teams remotely and different geographical locations
  • Good communication skills and ability to work and contribute in a team based environment
