Monday - Thursday, 4:00pm to 2:00am

Summary:
Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the Lead Bottle Blowing Operator is responsible for setting up, adjusting, operating, and maintaining equipment to produce PET bottles in accordance with established manufacturing processes and quality standards. This role includes operating and maintaining blow molders, palletizers, case packers, case erectors, case inserters, forklifts, and other related equipment. The Lead Operator provides daily work direction, training, and support to the shift team while maintaining detailed records to correlate operating conditions with production and quality control performance.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead daily activities on the Bottle Blowing line by providing clear direction, holding team members accountable, and ensuring goals are met.
  • Effectively communicate workflow updates, line issues, and objectives to team members and supervisors.
  • Provide constructive feedback and on-the-job training to line team members to build skills and improve performance.
  • Operate and troubleshoot Bottle Blowing equipment, including blow molders, chillers, air compressors, case packers, palletizers, and case erectors.
  • Monitor equipment, coordinate material changes, and address issues to maintain efficient line operations.
  • Perform and document changeovers, including mold removal, cleaning, replacement, and machine adjustments.
  • Set and adjust machine recipes to produce bottles meeting quality specifications at planned production rates.
  • Maintain accurate records of blow mold activities, raw material movements, and inventory entries using company systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Follow machine safety procedures and always adhere to lockout/tagout protocols.
  • Conduct regular line inspections to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Maintain preform inventory levels and report when minimum thresholds are reached.
  • Utilize Redzone to monitor efficiencies, identify downtime, and address operational issues.
  • Oversee material changes to ensure accuracy in scheduling and proper usage.
  • Participate in and lead 5Why and Kaizen events to drive operational efficiency and improvements.
  • Identify and communicate equipment issues to the supervisor and Maintenance team, working collaboratively to resolve them.
  • Maintain a clean production area by adhering to 5S standards, stocking supplies, and ensuring proper shutdown procedures at the end of each shift.
  • Assist and back up other operators and team members as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Competencies:

  • Proficiency in computer and technology applications required for job responsibilities; Oracle experience preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication in English and proficiency in basic math.
  • Strong ability to lead, communicate, and collaborate with team members while multitasking in a dynamic environment.
  • Competence in operating and troubleshooting production line equipment, with deductive reasoning to resolve issues independently.
  • Ability to anticipate issues, adjust to changing priorities, and persist under time constraints.
  • Attention to detail combined with an understanding of whole-system processes.
