As a Facilities Maintenance Manager, you will have the authority and responsibility for the safety, security, maintenance and housekeeping of the Facility and Operational Equipment.

 

What you’ll do:

General

• Manage the day-to-day functions of the maintenance department
• Handle HR related matters for assigned team members and cover for absent Team member(s)
• Participate in capital improvement projects and equipment acquisitions to include managing the setup of new equipment
• Submit request for equipment (Rental equipment)
• Facilitate small group problem solving or brainstorming activities
• Participate in ongoing continuous improvement projects
• Manage vendor and suppliers for facility and production issues (box supplies)
• Track equipment downtime and report metric to staff on weekly basis

Maintenance

• Manage the preventive and planned maintenance of all operational equipment and the facility 
• Ensure the maintenance schedule is developed, communicated and adhered to
• Manage the returning of down equipment to service as efficiently as possible to minimize the impact on the operation
• Manage the inventory, control and procurement of spares for equipment 
• Evaluate and select, with Purchasing, potential contracted service providers

Personnel

• Train, assist and supervise Team members in proper work procedures and practices. 
• Integrate new duties into employee position expectations and performance management system 

Housekeeping & Security

• Manage the housekeeping of the facility and grounds
• Develop clear expectations on how the facility and grounds shall be maintained and track performance towards achieving these expectations
• Manage the security of the facility to include the opening and closing of the facility, employee access, key inventory

Safety & Environment

• Set clear expectations regarding safe behaviors for maintenance team, address unsafe conditions
• Manage the handling of hazardous waste within the shop
• Ensure chemical baths are maintained in working conditions (boosting, changing)

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Maintenance Department. 
• Directly manages maintenance staff
• Carries out Managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. 
• Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing issues and resolving problems.

 

Position Requirements:

• High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in the same or similar position in the field of Facility and Industrial Equipment Maintenance
• Previous experience with managing staff
• Understand, read, write and speak English
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment for periods of time
• Ability to analyze, and interpret technical procedures, or governmental regulations
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, and customers
• Knowledge of MS Word Processing software and MS Excel Spreadsheet software
