Job Description
NBC News is hiring an experienced editorial leader to lead collaboration between NBC News and our Owned Stations Group teams. This leader should have a passion and in-depth understanding of the digital and linear news landscape and a proven record of success in leading a cross platform team and producing both breaking and original reporting across a wide variety of topics.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and amplify editorial opportunities across Owned Stations and affiliates, so NBC’s network platforms can better coordinate with local teams across the country on breaking news, politics and enterprise/investigative work.
- Build an influential editorial pipeline to collaborate earlier and more meaningfully at the local level – with an eye toward sharing costs, better pollinate ideas and create significant cross platform content that can be impactful and award-winning, all under one unified NBC News umbrella.
- Partner with Owned Stations Editorial teams on enterprise work happening at local level. Build trust with key stakeholders within NBCU News Group, with a deep understanding of what content shows and platforms are looking for, to ensure pitches and editorial ideas are tailored to teams and mobilized with the power of NBC News.
- Execute special editorial projects on behalf of President, Editorial that tap into local level storytelling that this position can help elevate to network ready content.
- Build relationships with local on-air talent to tap into building a reporting pipeline, developing stronger connections with leaders and reporters so at a network level, we can get ideas and reporting faster and more efficiently, giving NBC a competitive advantage.
Qualifications
- Exceptional leadership skills, at least 10 years leading a team, and demonstrated ability to motivate journalists to produce high impact work across a large news organization.
- At least 15 years of experience working at major news organization and several years of experience working in print, digital and television.
- Must have excellent journalism, writing, research and production skills with demonstrated strong editorial judgment.
- A track record of breaking big news stories that received national attention or award recognition and spurred change.
- Familiarity with document- and data-based reporting, news-driven and investigations, and accountability journalism.
Desired Qualifications:
- Significant experience in an editorial leadership role at a Top 10 local news market.

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

Salary range: $235,000-$280,000 (bonus eligible)
