Washburn Center for Children serves nearly 4,800 children ages 0-18 and approximately 11,000 family members each year. Washburn Center’s three office locations – Brooklyn Park, Edina, and Minneapolis – serve the entire Twin Cities metro area. The nonprofit also offers in-home services, and its school-based program serves 65+ schools in the Eden Prairie, Bloomington, District 191, Columbia Heights, Centennial and Minneapolis school districts.

Washburn Center has an opening for a full time School Based Therapist at an elementary school in Bloomington.
What is School Based Therapy at Washburn? Our compassionate, experienced therapists support children and their families through challenging times by offering individual therapy to help with a wide range of concerns, including school adjustment problems, depression, anxiety, difficulty dealing with loss or family changes, abuse, traumatic events, attention problems, parent-child conflicts and acting-out behaviors. Our counseling focuses on building on a child’s strengths and supporting them in gaining skills to be successful at home, in school and in the community. As a school-based mental health clinician you focus will be on assessment, treatment, and prevention services to children and their families as well as consultation and training for the school staff at Bloomington Elementary School.
It is strongly preferred you hold independent licensure at LICSW, LPCC, LP, or LMFT and be able to demonstrate your skill in children’s mental health diagnostic assessment and treatment. Position summary Provide school-based mental health assessment, treatment, and prevention services to children and families as well as consultation and training for school staff through collaborative program within Columbia Heights Middle School. Provide both direct billable services and non-billable training, consultation, and early intervention/prevention services. Participate in meetings, data collection, and coordination related to the program with Washburn Center and school staff and coordinators. Independent Licensure at LICSW, LPCC, LP, or LMFT required. Skilled in children’s mental health diagnostic assessment and treatment Role responsibilities:
Clinical Treatment - Clinicians will provide a combination of the following school-based services within the school, clients’ homes, and across the community, as agreed upon with the school staff and the Washburn Center supervisor, including:* Conduct diagnostic assessments* Develop and implement a treatment plan with the family based on a diagnosis* Provide individual and family therapy* Participate in IEP meetings* Care coordination, including collaboration with psychiatrists and other professionals working with the child* Create a discharge plan
